Grabbing the camera (borrowed, as mine has mysteriously disappeared), I wanted to share scenes of fall. Before i got to the area which looked like Fall here (and we do have deciduous trees that will put on a show), I found a row of sasanquas, which are similar to camellias. They bloom in late fall, where camellias are a winter and early spring flower. Just as I snapped this, the battery died.... caput... so I have no traditional scenes to show you, but perhaps what appears to be contradictory to what we think fall should look like.
It was difficult for me to get out today as I felt a huge urge to stay inside today. Reading Mary Beth's blog and her joining in the walk gave me the inspiration to walk. No Ipod today, no special shoes or clothes - walking the predictable path. I got to a part of the road that was covered with leaves, as though it was planned - looking meditative, even though it was for just 10 or so feet, I envisioned it going on and on.
Give the street cleaners a chance and it will be history.
Hopefully tomorrow will give me an opportunity to capture the traditional fall scenes before the leaves give way.
On a different note, there was an announcement today we will attend school for half a day this Friday. Football rules and we are in the state playoffs - 5 hours away.
And what scenes did you see on this Fall day in your part of the world?
That's a gorgeous flower! I'm sorry the camera died before you could get the traditional fall scenes. But, as you say, hopefully tomorrow!

Oh, beautiful! I love those flowers. My grandfather was a champion camellia grower. He used to "gib" the camellias (with giberellic acid) to make them grow faster, bigger, better.
Sasanquas are gorgeous. Another of my favorites from your neck o' the woods..."tulip trees," AKA Japanese magnolias. Unparalleled color!
Down here on my walk I saw lots of muted color change, but the sweetgum trees have gorgeous leaves. I picked up a bunch to take home.
I'm sure I looked like Carol Burnett's baglady on my walks - I was wearing a houndstooth grey wool cape, a hat knitted of purple, cream and green varigated yarn, and a BRIGHT green knitted scarf made by my mom. I'm glad I'm not playground age anymore (or Jr. High) as, if anyone wanted to laugh at me, they did it not to my face nor aloud! :)
Happy halfday off! All praise be to football!

A gorgeous sasanqua! My brand new camellia bushes are loaded with buds, and I can hardly wait for them to bloom.
