Have any of you knitters signed up for Ravelry? It's an online community similary to others and allows you to connect, supposedly, in ways that others, such as MyFace and Spacebook (ahem) -- but..... you have to wait to get in because they are still in Beta and don't want to overload and crash the system in its infancy. So..... those of us who are waiting ( and I would be one of them) has to go to the "antsy" page and wait patiently for my number in line to decrease. Right now, I am 5762 in line --- with 5761 in front of me. Anyone else waiting? Anyone in there? If you haven't signed up, and you are a knitter, you should.
Let me know where you are - are you in or are you still waiting????
I'm waiting too! It looks like a really good idea, I can't wait to get my invite. Count yourself lucky though.... I'm 13952th in line! I've still got a bit addicted to checking if that's changed though....

I am # 21398 on the list. Sometime in this lifetime, I suppose...
I'm hoping getting into this online community will get me focused on actually completing several projects in the works right now. Gack. The stash is growing but my projects are not, and some more yarn is on its way as I type this. It's an addiction.

I guess I knew about this pretty early on, as I have been 'in' for about a month or so. What I didn't know and could have been doing for the two months I was waiting, was that I needed to upload all the photos I wanted to display, of both FOs and my yarn collection, into a Flickr account... so my page, though getting filled in, is taking me a long time, as I didn't even START uploading photos until I received my invite and began reading up on how to use Ravelry. So, get busy!
At least that is one piece of advice the Beta testers got incorporated into the public view and I also highly recommend beginning to take photos of your stash if you want to use the yarn catalog feature. You could also begin making a list using any word processing program of links to patterns on your wish list, so that you don't have to search all over the place later. Oh, and once you get that invite, please be sure and look my page up and send me an invite - who needs MyFace when you can get together with your fiber buddies in cyberspace? I think you will like the feature that allows you to look up a pattern you are considering making and see how other people who are working on it or have finished did theirs, all at one time. Really helps to visualize more possibilities.
