Friday Five - Read any Good Books?
The website promoting this piece of art says, "For the first time, the worlds most influential religious texts are brought together and presented on the same level, their coexistence acknowledged and celebrated”. The shelf is made of reclaimed wood that contains seven religious books. The designers have put them – literally – on the same level.
Well, pish posh! I think that some books ARE better than others! How about you?
- What book have you read in the last six months that has really stayed with you? Why?
- What is one of your favorite childhood books?
- Do you have a favorite book of the Bible? Do tell! Well, that is hard to say - I do find I'm partial to the Gospels. I really prefer to look at the Good Book as a whole and not pick out one part.
- What is one book you could read again and again? Well, I'm not one to read books again and again and again. Don't mean to be a party pooper on this one. So... I will pick out one that I have read many times - a children's book - The Clown of God by Tomie dePaola
- Is there a book you would suggest for Lenten reading? What is it and why? Why, yes I do and that would be Bread And Wine: Readings For Lent And Easter
, because Revgalblogpals are reading it for Lent.
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingolver - I becoame proactive in trying to become more local in selecting what we eat, eat fewer processed foods and hopefully become a better steward of the earth.
Most definitely Lion's Paw by Robb White. Tell me you have a copy and you want to send it to me. Oh you will be my friend for ever.
And because we all love bonus questions, if you were going to publish a book what would it be? Who would you want to write the jacket cover blurb expounding on your talent?
Ok, I think it would be a children's book - with the lyrics of a children's song. As for a jacket blurb - I don't know - why don't you suggest something??

i think i've actually heard of that children's book - but sorry no copy. boo. i'll have to check the rgbp lenten read - thanks for the link.

Wow, I guess so! I checked Bookfinder and the lowest price, for a falling-apart paperback, was around $75, and the highest was over $1000! Wouldn't you think something in such demand would be reprinted? Two books from my young days are in similar case: Suzuki Beane from the 60s and Dr. Goat, a Tell-a-Tale book (even flimsier than Little Golden Books) that was my favorite as a tot. But I'll keep my eyes open for the Lion's Paw at every library book sale from now on.
Also agree about Animal, Vegetable, Miracle; I'm not quite finished with my post yet.

Great play! $75 for a used copy of your favorite book? That's no good!
Maybe Tomie dePaola could write your jacket blurb.

I thought I knew a lot about children's books, but I don't remember "The Lion's Paw." Interesting reading here.
